Design and engineering

With experience in the design of products and production processes we often come up with ideas in these sectors.

One interesting aspect of being an ideas factory is the concept of scale. For somebody who devotes themselves to creating ideas and solutions Ruston Clarke know that big ideas are just as simple or difficult to develop as a small idea. We could spend our time and effort developing a better mouse trap or we could spend our time developing a new electric transport system. Both might require a similar amount of time and intellectual effort but they have very different monetary potential. We will leave the catching of mice to others.

The appreciation of design and engineering is something we are passionate about. It is an area that we study and is the well spring of our heroes.

When Britain created its list of Greatest Britons, (BBC 2002)  no one was surprised that Churchill came out on top, but Brunel coming second was a revelation to many.

At Ruston Clarke our list of heroes would include: Soichiro Honda, Colin Chapman, Charles Boole, Henry Maudslay and Steve Jobs; amongst many others….
